Coconut Kefir Recipe
Kefir is healthy because it includes probiotics. When shopping for kefir, many of what's available are loaded with sugar or contain cow milk (if you want to avoid it), here is a recipe I got from the detox spa I attend regularly (we care spa):
You will need:
3 young coconuts
1/2 packet of kefir starter
1 kefir or yogurt maker
Recipe:
1. Open 3 young coconuts and drain water into a container.
2. Save the water to drink at your leisure.
3. Scoop out the meat and place it in a Vitamix or blender.
4. Mix until it has a very smooth consistency. This is done ideally without any additional liquid. If the coconut meat is very tough and hard to break down, add a small amount of filtered water.
5. Once the mixture is smooth, pour it into a separate container with a lid.
6. Add 1/2 packet of kefir starter and stir.
7. Set kefir/yogurt maker to 85 degrees for 12-15 hours.
8. Place kefir in the refrigerator.
